If you like cats, coffee and tea, you’ll like what SCRAPS and Moose Jaw Families For Change are doing later this month.

Families For Change are doing a cat cafe for SCRAPS on Feb. 28.

Cat cafes are a chance for those currently without cats or unable to have cats, to see what cats are up for adoption in a neutral location for tea, coffee, and feline accompaniment.

“Some are unable to have animals in their homes, so this gives them an opportunity to come to a space that is away from their home and they can socialize and they can engage with the animals and cats bring so much joy for the folks,” said Katie Statler or Families for Change, who said they were inspired by trendy events similar to Regina’s Excalipurr Cat Cafe. This is a first for Moose Jaw, she said.

A lot of SCRAPS’ followers have been asking for the cat cafe, Statler said.

“We approached SCRAPS and they had actually said a lot of their following has requested a cat cafe,” Statler said, “They didn’t have the location and we said ‘hey, let’s get together, this would be equally beneficial for you and for us. The folks we support enjoy animal interaction and likewise, for the community, they can see the cats that are adoptable.”

The financial proceeds from the event will go towards SCRAPS.

Feb, 28 will have two different sessions with people able to visit with adoptable cats at Families For Change, with registration strongly recommended in advance. Anyone interested in registering can email communication@MJFFC.com
