Moose Jaw is often thought of as a great community for new Canadians to start their new lives. Just big enough to offer everything a newcomer needs but small enough to feel inclusive and easy to get around.

June 20th is World Refugee Day as the Moose Jaw MultiCultral Council and their partners took over Crescent Park to celebrate from 10am-3pm.

"We have interactive displays that people of all ages can come down and experience, "said Melissa Mitchell, Community Connections Coordinator. "We'll have a panel of refugees speaking about their experience at about 12:45 and that will be after a rice and beans lunch that we'll be providing for free."

Mitchell said there are people who come to Moose Jaw and access the Multicultural Council services from all over the world with an average of 60 newcomers each year.
