With less than 700 votes cast in the Holy Trinity Catholic School Division by-election this week, the results were fairly easy to calculate Wednesday night after the polls closed.

The advanced polls were the first to be counted and they showed Christine Boyzcuk leading the way with Alison Bradish on her heels in second place, Tery-Ann Metz was in a distant third. 14 minutes later and the finals results would show the exact same standings but with different totals beside each name. Boyzcuk won the open seat on the school board with over 40% of the vote, or 323 votes in total compared to Bradish with 247 and Metz with 91.

"I'm just really thankful for the voters putting their trust in me," said Boyzcuk after the announcement had been made. "I would like to congratulate the other two women who put their names forward and I know that this is great news for women in our city and for young people to be able to move forward, in terms of getting involved in their community."

Boyzcuk is well known in Moose Jaw for her volunteer efforts on many boards and committees and would like to bring that experience to Holy Trinity. "I'm excited about working with the other people on the board and learning more about them and their priorities."

"I fund it very important to focus on the many things that they are already doing. I would say that until I feel comfortable enough to offer something that is brand new, I would certainly need to find out more about what kind of things that are happening and benefiting the students and staff and the school division as a whole."

During the campaign, Boyzcuk said she'd like to focus on literacy if elected and saw the chance to sit on the board as an opportunity to better serve her faith.
