Outdoor skating rink season is just around the corner as City crews plan to begin flooding rinks on Monday.

"Depending on the weather, our crews are going to start Monday, flooding and getting ready the outdoor rinks, the Oval, and the crokicurl pad at Elgin Park so we're waiting on the weather to cooperate," City Recreation Services Manager Scott Osmachenko explained. "It has to be cold overnight to get all the rinks ready but we're anticipating starting on Monday."

It usually takes about two weeks for the outdoor arenas to be ready, but that they hope to have all of the rinks ready for use before the Christmas season.
