The 2018 Saskatchewan Communities in Bloom results were announced Friday in Maple Creek.

Winners were judged based on 6 criteria-tidiness, environmental action, heritage conservation, urban forestry, landscape, and floral displays.

In the '5,000 and higher' population category, Moose Jaw placed second in the 'Competitive' division, receiving a rating of 4 blooms (out of a possible 5), with Melfort taking home the top prize.

Eastend took home first place in the '501-1,000' population category, while Eston won for the 1,001 to 2,000' population category.

Communities in Bloom is a provincial and national program recognizing residents' contributions to beautifying their neighbourhoods.
