We're expecting to hear more this week about the lapsing of a service agreement that could lead to a protein processing plant on the south side of the city.

Moose Jaw City Council had given Canadian Protein Innovation three contract extensions dating back to July of this year, but the latest extension ended on Thursday when the necessary paperwork did not arrive at City Hall. City Manager Matt Noble has explained that the cash for the purchase of the land has been transferred by CPI but they learned the agreement had been modified by the company over timeline concerns and that's something he can't approve, only councillors can and so the contract lapsed.

Noble is expected to present a new contract to council this week in hopes of gaining their approval to continue to the negotiations.  The new agreement is expected to be the same as the old one, just with new dates for completion milestones.
