City Hall is losing a manager. Ted Schaeffer has tendered his resignation to take a job in Martensville.

The current Director of the Parks and Recreation Department said it was a family decision.

"I've accepted the position of Director of Recreation and Community Services with the city of Martensville. My wife has been working in Saskatoon for well over a year now, and my younger daughter went up in September to finish high school. It's just an opportunity in Martensville for me to get up there and for our family to be back in one location together."

Schaeffer has been the Director since he was hired in March 2016 and said he's proud of the work he's done here in Moose Jaw.

"Getting the opportunity to work a little more closely with the DFFH, Mosaic Place and the Yara Centre. I'm kind of proud of what we've done over there to get things moving forward. Even the every day things that we've done here, I've had the opportunity to work with some really great staff."

He says one of his biggest tasks while in the Friendly City was getting Yara Centre and Mosaic Place back on track.

"I believe I've had a little bit of a role in providing some guidance over there. I like to think that I had some role in stabilizing things over there, and hopefully setting a future for those facilities that really benefits the city of Moose Jaw."

Schaeffer has about a month left until his departure.
