The federal government has started announcing revisions to proposed tax changes for small businesses that had many Saskatchewanians ticked off.

A campaign promise by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's Liberals to cut the small business tax rate from 10.5% to 9% in 2019 will be carried through.

The rate will fall to 10% in January before hitting the 9% mark the following year.

The reaction to the proposed tax rates - for which the consultation period ended October 2 - has featured plenty of resentment.

The agricultural community has been very vocal in their disapproval of the original proposal, as it would make it costly for inter-generational farm transfers.

"[We will] make sure we don't affect the transfer of a business to the next generation," said Finance Minister Bill Morneau, regarding farmers.

More changes to the proposal are expected to be announced throughout the week.
