Most parents dread cold season, but they all fear whenever they find lice on their child's head.

Lice is not something to be too afraid of though, as they cause no harm to people.

“Lice is not known to transfer any disease,” says Dr. Lanre Medu, health medical officer with the Five Hills Health Region. “What the concern is that you have that discomfort. The kid is probably has that itchy feeling. The itchiness that they get like with every other kid.”

Lice is more of a nuisance than a threat to health.

Luckily, with modern treatment methods, lice can be eradicated and removed from people’s heads more easily.

Lice can also happen to any child, no matter their cleanliness or economic status, as lice spreads easily through head to head contact or from sharing hats and combs.

The best way to deal with lice is to avoid this kind of contact, check for lice often, and use treatment if the pest is found.
