Wednesday afternoon saw a lot of smoke in the northeast part of Moose Jaw.

A fire broke out shortly after 2:00 pm in a field of pasture land just east of Happy Valley Park.

Local resident Gayle Gibbs reported the fire to the Moose Jaw Fire Department. She said she learned of the fire from the roofers working on her home.

"We'd just come back from voting, my husband and I, and we were talking to our roofers. One of [them] happened to mention, 'Oh, my gosh. Look at the fire across the valley.'"

Gibbs said the fire "started in the middle of the field," but she was unsure of what caused the fire.

According to the Moose Jaw Fire Department, who contained and extinguished the blaze, the cause is still unknown at this time. Thankfully, the fire didn't pose a risk on anyone or any properties in the area.
