The weather this summer has been cooperating for the most part with gardeners, and the Mosaic Community Food Farm down in Wakamow is already seeing returns.

The farm is a partnership between Mosiac and various organizations in Moose Jaw which provides fresh produce to the Moose Jaw Multicultural Council, Moose Jaw and District Food Bank, Riverside Mission, and Hunger in Moose Jaw. Its goal is to provide nourishing produce to low income families in the city.

Todd Johnson, the General Manager of the Wakamow Valley Authority, expladins more:

"Its come along quite well, the rain is definitely helping. We've already started taking off product and dropping it off."

Despite facing some volunteering shortages due to the pandemic early on in the season, Johnson says the farm is still healthy and thriving.

"Normally our planting day is a really big event and we'll have twenty to thirty people out there. They come from all different parts of the province. This year it was just the staff. So only three people planting the whole garden but doing so kept them safe."

Last year the garden brought in just over 5700 lbs of fresh vegetables.
