The Thunderbird Viaduct (Fourth Avenue Bridge) will be closed beginning on Monday for repairs. The closure will only affect vehicles as the sideways will still be open.

The closure is to allow crews to install a new catcher beam underneath the north end of the bridge to support the existing infrastructure. The crews will also be checking the deck of the bridge to learn more about the condition of the reinforced steel.

The Thunderbird Viaduct is expected to reopen on Friday, Jan. 28, weather permitting.

The city is reminding residents that all businesses in the area will remain open and drivers should use Ninth Avenue Northwest or First Avenue Northeast to access South Hill.
