For most of Friday the Moose Jaw Fire Department members were just outside of the city trying to battle a fire.

The crews were called around 3:30pm in the afternoon out to a rural area approximately 2 miles East of the city and stayed at the scene, of what started out as grass fire, until midnight.

According to the Fire Department the grass fire grew due to strong wind and engulfed a near by train trestle. Fire fighters did their best to contain the fire and managed to put it out but weren't able to save the bridge.
