High Streets Weekly Construction Update has come out, and we're getting closer and closer to a smooth high street ride.

The preparations for paving, which included trenching, compaction, sewer connections and temporary asphalt, have been completed on the 300 block and has since been reopened.

Moving up, the 400 block has three sewer connections that still need work, but, only temporary asphalt is needed on the block and it is expected to be completed by the end of the day Wednesday and opened Thursday.

The 700 block, which also needed trenching, compaction, sewer connections and temporary asphalt work, is expected to be done at the same time as the 400 block.

After that work is completed, the 500 and 600 block work will begin and is estimated to be completed by July 3, weather permitting. Once complete, resurfacing work can finally begin, starting on the 300 block and moving west.

As for closures, the intersection of 8th Avenue and High Street is blocked for underground pipe repair. Also, as work progresses on the 600 and 700 blocks, two-way traffic is in place on the south side of the street.

As always, make sure to obey all road signage and drive with caution in the area.

All businesses remain open on High Street during construction.
