No details, whatsoever are being released by Moose Jaw City Hall as an investigation has been launched into what is being described as a staff issue at Mosaic Place and Yara Centre.

Mayor Fraser Tolmie apologized when approached after a special closed-door meeting Wednesday night, saying because of privacy concerns, they cannot disclose any information not even why only three of the six current elected officials were in attendance at the meeting.

"I can't make any comments concerning that," replied Tolmie following the meeting. "We've got an investigation that ongoing, it's a personnel issue and we'll be waiting for the City Manager (Jim Puffalt) to get back to us."

Tolmie, Dawn Luhning and Chris Warren were the only elected officials at the meeting that was a continuation of a July 9th meeting that saw Councillors Crystal Froese, Brian Swanson and Scott McMann excused for some time as the others discussed matters with members of the administration. This time, the three excused councillors weren't even in the building.

The investigation will only serve to increase the controversy surrounding the seven-year-old facility and the Downtown Facility and Fieldhouse board. Following early success, General Manager Scott Clark shocked many in the community when he announced his resignation to explore another job offer. In the weeks that followed, the controversy intensified as questionable reporting to council on budgets and reporting of expenditures came to light. The board was torn down, interim members were appointed from sitting councillors and City Hall took over the day to day operations of the two facilities until Graham Edge was hired in January 2018. Five months later and he was fired with no explanation from the board and no replacement.

The motion from Executive Committee needs final council approval before anything else happens. Newly hired City Manager Jim Puffalt has been tasked with carrying out the investigation although no timeline has been given for when results will be made public.
