It took two days and four polling stations to determine a winner. The ballots have been counted and a new face has been appointed for the Conservatives in the southwest.

For the first time in nearly two decades, someone other than David Anderson will represent the Conservative Party for the Cypress Hills-Grassland riding.

Jeremy Patzer won the nomination late Saturday night after the ballot had gone into the fifth round and will replace the retiring MP, David Anderson.

The riding covers a large portion of Southwest Saskatchewan, including the regions of Maple Creek, Kindersley, Assiniboia and Swift Current and spans west to the Alberta border and south down to the American border.

Patzer grew up on a family farm in the southwest and has been living in Swift Current for the better part of 10 years. He has also been involved with the Conservative Party Board of Directors in the riding for the last four years.

He beat out Kyle Bennett, Sean Checkley, Norm Nordgulen, Megz Reynolds, and Kelly Williamson to win the nomination.
