June is Parks and Recreation month in Moose Jaw and the City is encouraging residents to get Notoriously Active while the weather starts to heat up.

The Phyllis Dewar outdoor pool is scheduled to open on June 14, weather permitting.

Also set to open on June 14 are the four Spray Parks in the city, Crescent Park Spray Park, the 1996 Summer Games Spray Park, Elgin Park Spray Park, and Co-op Community East End Spray Park.

The Playground Program will be up and running this summer in person. The City is asking people to register ahead of time because of number restrictions. All activities will follow public health guidelines.

The Youth Activity Centre Program will not run this year due to COIVD-19.

The NASH unit, Notoriously Active Summer Happens, is a new mobile program where the city takes recreation activities on the go to different communities around Moose Jaw.

“I’m proud to proclaim June as Recreation and Parks Month,” said Mayor Fraser Tolmie. “I encourage Moose Javians to explore our trails, parks, facilities, and the multiple recreation possibilities in Wakamow Valley, and get Notoriously Active in June.”

The City has also started a Notoriously Active Campaign with an activities calendar. Residents are asked to take a photo doing any of the activities, post on social media, and tag The City of Moose Jaw for a chance to win prize baskets, or Recreation Passes for their family.

Some of the activities include Geocaching, Disc Golf, and outdoor yoga classes.
