After being cancelled last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Moose Jaw Kinsmen Club is planning to go ahead with its Celebrity Sports Dinner.

The dinner was originally slated for Feb. 5, but it was recently pushed back to April 2 due to the pandemic.

This year’s guests include former NHLers Shayne Corson and Darcy Tucker, Toronto Blue Jays relief pitcher Jordan Romano and former NFL kicker Mike Vanderjagt. Emceeing this year's banquet will be sportscaster Rod Black.

“The message is kind of going around some of these sports circles that the Sports Celebrity Banquet in Moose Jaw is a great event, raises a lot of money for the community and we're actually having a lot of guys say that they want to be put on lists for subsequent years if they can't do it this year,” said Kinsmen member Scott Paquin.

The banquet will also include a dinner and live and silent auctions with a number of sports memorabilia up for sale.  All of the funds raised from the banquet will go right back into the community.

“We're doing some big things this year with the Moose Jaw Kinsmen Gardens, that's something we've given a lot of money to over the last couple years, the Kinsmen Inclusion Centre and various sports teams,” Paquin said.

“The Kinsmen Flying Fins, speed skating club, scouts, any community-based organization we’ve probably done some donation to at some point.”

Tickets are expected to go on sale in February and will be available by messaging the Moose Jaw Kinsmen Club’s Facebook page or through any Kinsmen Club member. More details will be coming out about ticket sales through their Facebook page in the coming days.
