City council has agreed to give the Kinsmen Club of Moose Jaw the naming rights to a new park being constructed in the West Park subdivision.

The Kinsmen Club will pay $100,000 for the naming rights in 10 payments of $10,000.

Derek Blais, Director of Parks and Recreation, explains were the immediate funding will come from.

“It's also important to note that the immediate funding required to complete the West Park projects will be drawn down from the land development funds from the parks' dedication reserve. In return, all of the revenue received through the 10-year period will be credited back to the same reserve,” he said.

The agreement will be a 25-year term beginning on Oct. 1 with the club receiving favourable consideration for renewal after the term is up.

Part of the agreement will be that the city will coordinate the installation of signage with all costs being split 50/50 with the club.

The city will also add the club’s name to a donor wall that will be installed at the park.
