Driving across Saskatchewan isn't known for being entertaining, but a local APP creator is looking to change that.

TRIPVIA, a new app designed by a local man here in Moose Jaw, has location-based information and trivia built into it.

Greg Donkers, the creator of the app, said, essentially, you're going to go somewhere. So let's say you're driving across Saskatchewan.  My app isn't going to tell you to turn off the highway.  It takes the destination you're going to, and gives you something to do while you're getting there."

Donkers said that 2 years of work have gone into the app so far, with each topic being around 2 minutes long. And in Saskatchewan alone, there are over 130 topics.

"The app will automatically play audio clips, based on what's around you. As an example, if you're driving by Buffalo Pound Park, you don't have to do anything. The audio will just play through the vehicles stereo. And our funny and entertaining hosts come on and tell you all about Buffalo Park, they'll ask you a multiple choice trivia question, point out things that you can see around you. And give you some educational information on what you're seeing." said Donkers. " lots of different topics. We have animals, geography, history, things to do, famous people, and what not. Lots of different stuff, educational, great for kids, families and people driving alone as well."

He said right now there are 5 tours across Canada, but they are looking to expand that in the future, including both more trips, and another app designed for young kids.

It's available on both Android and IOS for free.
