Tributes are pouring in for Moose Jaw artist Gus Froese.

Froese, who was born in Hawarden, SK in 1929, passed away this week.

According to a biography of Froese on the Saskatchewan Network of Art Collecting, Frose retired from teaching full-time in 1976 and began focusing more on his painting.

The Moose Jaw Museum & Art Gallery paid tribute to Froese on Thursday

Froese was an integral part of the arts community in Moose Jaw, and leaves behind a number of famed works, including four of the 47 murals that grace buildings in the city. Those murals are: "Opening Day", "National Light and Power Co.", "March to the Pipes Forever", and "Ross Wells Tribute to Baseball."

"Opening Day Parade" is one of four Moose Jaw murals painted by Froese
