This past weekend, dancers from across the province showed their prowess at Moose Jaw’s Peacock Collegiate.

The 34th Invitational Dance Carnival took place, hosted by Barb Jackman of Dance Images by BJ and Denise Massionneuve of Denee’s School of Dance

The four-day competition saw 800 dancers from 14 Saskatchewan studios come together to share performances, and placements and prizes were awarded.

Performances were adjudicated by Canadian dancers Sarah Dolan and Joey Matt of So You Think You Can Dance fame, and the duo expressed that they found the talent of the dancers impressive.

While there was a range of skill levels and dancers of all ages, everyone came together to show their love of dancing and to share their stories. Indeed, Carnival’s main message is that “doing your best is more important than being the best,” and the event showcased dancers’ camaraderie above all else.

Sarah Dolan and Joey Matt, the two adjudicators, posed with instructors from the two hosting studios, as well as the rest of the instructors who brought their dancers into compete from around the province.
