Tow trucks are busy, certain services are stalled, and officials are sharing information with residents due to the extreme cold that has moved into Saskatchewan.

A Meteorologist with Environment Canada, Terri Lang, stressed that people should be bundled up in layers during the cold snap if they must go outside as it's the air between the layers that will keep them warm.

"Don't go out if you don't need to when it's this cold, because hypothermia is a risk if you're out too long," said Lang. "Plus if you're out venturing on the highways always check the Highway Hotline before heading out for road conditions and be prepared. If something were to happen on the road and your car breaks down or something like that, make sure you're prepared to deal with that cold air and that you have a safety kit in your car at all times during the winter. It's winter in Saskatchewan and we have to be prepared for anything."

Wakamow Valley has also shared on social media that they will not be opening their skating shack on Thursday due to the cold weather. The Prairie South School Division will not have buses running on Thursday either.
