Miss Universe Canada Siera Bearchell has hit the ground running since her return from the Miss Universe Pageant in the Philippines.

On Thursday, Bearchell closed an auction she had on the dress she wore for the opening number at 65th Miss Universe competition in the Phillipines.

Her plan is to use the money raised to provide men and women around the world with knowledge and support who struggle with body image.

"I want to provide some talks with young girls, we're going to do some confidence workshops and I'm going to provide them with the tools that they need, like books and that kind of thing to help them feel confident with who they are."

She has been building this initiative for sometime and is making relationships with people around the world to be able to host her workshops nationally.

"People who are dealing with self confidence and self worth... that's a global issue. It's not just in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan or Canada but it's around the world. Not only young women, also young men and people of all ages... we all deal with things that make us question who we are and feel like we have to change who we are to fit into a certain role."

Bearchell has been in New York city for Fashion Week and will be taking off for the Philippines next week to help open a new Tim Hortons restaurant.  She says all the traveling has aided in adapting her platform, but also helped her reach a larger audience.

"I get messages, comments (on Facebook) and emails every single day from people of all ages around the world who thank me for helping them find themselves, love themselves for who they are and change the perspective on how they view themselves. I never imagined the things I had to say would have such an impact."

She hopes to begin workshops right away, thanks to the over $700 raised from the auction on her gown.
