Nominations may have closed a month ago, but there's still a lot of work to go for the Moose Jaw Business Exellence Awards.

Businesses from across town either entered or were nominated for a variety of different awards in categories like marketing and job creation.

Rob Clark, CEO of the Moose Jaw Chamber of Commerce, said they have plenty to do before the award show.

"So the nominations are in; now we're just gathering up submissions. Some guys are on holidays or whatever but we've probably got 75/80 percent of them but we're still diligently picking up the other ones. Plus, we want to make sure that they're putting in really quality ones to make it difficult for the judges to make a decision."

There are 6 to 7 judges going through each of the businesses' portfolios and tallying points which will be used to determine a winner.

"Heather (Bergdahl) and I are the only ones that know the judges. There's six to seven judges and each judge does not know who the other one is so they just bring the book in, we tabulate the scoring system, we put it in an Excel file and that's where we find our winners of the awards."

The MJ BEX Awards will be held this year on April 18th.
