The Moose Jaw and District Chamber of Commerce is happy with the new provincial budget and feels it's moving in a good direction for Saskatchewan.

CEO Rob Clark said, "Our economy is slowly improving; the needle is moving in the positive direction."

In regards to local business reactions, he said things are status quo and there won't be any major changes.

"There were no tax increases, no new ones, and there were no additions to current ones." He added that as far as he knows they are happy with the balance.

"I was hoping for a bit of a change in the tax that hit the construction and restaurant sectors a couple of years ago. We were in an overbuild situation, and I think that hurt our economy," explained Clark.

He added that the highlight for him was the future plans involving the new school on South Hill, stating that it will definitely be a positive going down the road, and looks forward to future entrepreneurs coming out of there.

Clark said that overall, they're very happy they have achieved a balanced budget and applauded the government for getting us there.
