Victim Services Coordinator Donna Blondeau and Kane.

They are holding a public event at the police station.

Victim Services Co-Ordinator with the Moose Jaw Police Donna Blondeau says, "We haven't done this before, and we're looking to recruit volunteers from our community. People that have a few hours, that are interested in victim services work, and assisting victims of crime and tragedy."

She added, "The volunteers will be trained to assist victims of crime and tragedy. So they'll be doing follow-ups with victims. We're a police-based program."

It is open to anyone interested in volunteering, or if you're just curious about what victim services do.

"We have students, university students, we have full time employed, we have people who are retired. So were' looking for people that have a few hours that they can donate weekly, that can come in and be trained to follow up with victims," said Blondeau.

The event takes place today from 6 to 8 pm.
