Twenty-two suites of the apartment complex damaged by fire over the weekend have been investigated and closed until further notice.

According to Fire Chief Rod Montgomery, officials came in to inspect the structure and determined the West Wing of the building should have no occupancy.

Residents are able to access a portion of the apartments to gather their personal belongings and continue insurance claims, but the Moose Jaw Fire Department has advised people to find alternative housing.

In total, roughly 22 suites were damaged, with 6 ruined by flames and the rest by smoke and water.

Chief Montgomery said there's no set timeline for the renovations required for people to be able to return home.
