Saskatchewan felt the heat Friday, and it will be a day that goes down in the books as Moose Jaw and 17 other communities all broke their recorded highest temperatures for the day.

A ridge of high pressure brought in the highest temperature Moose Jaw has seen all week, as we peaked at 39.8 degrees, breaking the previous record of 36.3 degrees set on August 10th in 1984.

Regina also broke their record of 35.4 degrees, setting a new one at 36.4. Maple Creek and Assiniboia both tied for the highest temperatures in the province, Environment Canada reports both areas hit a record of 40.1 degrees.

Saturday's forecast shows Moose Jaw's high will be 40 degrees, which is dangerously close to breaking our all-time highest ever recorded temperature for August, which is 41.7 degrees. A record set back on August 6th in 1949.
