Wednesday will be a big day at the Royal Canadian Legion in Moose Jaw as they celebrate their annual Honours and Awards Meeting.

The awards recognize time spent with the organization as well as exceptional service.

There are four different categories of membership that are recognized.  The "Ordinary" category is for members who actively served in the military.  "Associate" is for relatives of veterans, and "Affiliate" is for all others.

In addition there is a Life Membership category for any Legion member who has demonstrated exceptional service through the years.

Life members being recognized this year include William Royds, Ruth Taylor and Wayne Wright who receive 30 year awards.  Jim Buck gets his 40 year pin and Jim MacNeil is honoured for 45 years.

Barry Webster and Roy Matthews are also being awarded their 60 year pins in the Ordinary category.

A total of 116 members will receive pins at the meeting.

In addition to service pins, awards will be handed out to schools for the Legion's Remembrance Day School Display Competition.  St. Margaret School takes top honours followed by Sunningdale and Sacred Heart, with an honourable mention to Westmount and William Grayson
