Southwestern Saskatchewan's job market grew last month even though the labour force shrunk.

There was roughly 400 less eligible workers from September to October yet 100 extra people were employed moving the region's unemployment rate from 4.9% down to 3.8%.

With that drastic change in the employment rate for the Swift Current and Moose Jaw area region it catapulted them into the top five lowest unemployment rates in the nation out of 66 regions.

The province's unemployment rate also made a significant decrease in a months time from 6.7% to rest at 6.1% in October.

The national unemployment rate had a strong October compared to September and October 2017 as it dipped 0.2 per cent to rest at 5.8 per cent.
