The Moose Jaw Exhibition Grounds hosted Moose Jaw Safety Day 2019 on Wednesday, November 6th, where 350 grade seven and eight students gathered to learn more about safety at school and at home.

The day included presentations from the EMS, the Moose Jaw Police Service, the Fire Department and more.

Brett Young is a Career Development Consultant with the Prarie South School Division and explained more about the day.

"So today we have about 350 students from Prairie South in grade seven and eight gathered here at the exhibition grounds. We're taking them through what's called Safety Day 2019 and this is a chance for students to come together and to go around to different stations and learn little nuggets about safety that can affect them in their personal and school lives."

Other presentations included mental health safety, bus safety, SaskPower, the Saskatchewan Construction Association, online safety, as well as information on therapy dogs.

Young also added more about how the learning took place.

"All this we're doing in 10-minute segments so that the students just get little nuggets of information. So technically today what we're doing is planting seeds. We're empowering students to make good choices in their lives."
