Jenn Angus is the new Executive Director at Moose Jaw's Transition House.

Taking over in mid-December after the retirement of Lori Lancaster, Angus said her eight years as a senior manager at Moose Jaw's YMCA propelled her to take on the challenge of executive director at Transition House. "I've always been passionate about girls and young women, and implemented programs to do leadership and advocacy, and create more safety in our community. The vision and the values of Transition House of safety and empowerment directly aligned with my values, and what I think can really impact our community long-term."

Angus said her goals are to maintain the "excellent" work the TH staff is already doing and to increase awareness and prevention programs, as well as funding.

Angus said another goal is to work herself out of a job, meaning she hopes violence against girls and women ends.

Even though she's new to the position, Angus is aware of the level of violence in Saskatchewan. "There are always going to be those ebbs and flows in violence rates...they go up, they go down. Unfortunately, though, Saskatchewan still has the highest rate of police-reported domestic violence in Canada."

Transition House provides services to women experiencing interpersonal violence and abuse.
