Winter gets closer and closer every day and even though it's fall, we've already seen some snow. It's a good time to start thinking about keeping your summer fun safe and winterizing your RV.

Not only will preparing your RV for the winter extend its lifeline, but it will also save you from any bills once the warmer weather returns.

"If units are out of warranty people can expect big bills if things aren't winterized correctly," Rob Clinkard, Service Manager at Moose Jaw RV and Marine explained. "We never like to giving people the bad news that their RV, just because simple winterizing, is now looking at hundreds and thousands of dollars of damage."

Clinkard shared some tips to prepare your RV for its winter hibernation.

Keep your camper safe by disconnecting your hot water heater, emptying all of your tanks and lines and leaving the caps off, and running food grade antifreeze through your lines and dumping it down each drain and the toilet.

Also, disconnect your batteries and recharge them when necessary, and obviously, clean, dry, and tidy your RV for the next season.

When it comes to storing your RV, it should stay relatively safe since they are built to be airtight, but that doesn't stop critters. Make sure to seal any little holes in your camper and maybe set some repellent up to keep the mice out.

Remember, if you don't feel comfortable about doing your own winterizing, there are many technicians in Moose Jaw that will make sure your RV stays safe when the snow hits.
