Roadside drug screening tests will be making their way into Saskatchewan in the New Year.

In 2019, the province plans to buy a total of fifteen devices from Draeger Safety Canada Limited, which will be able to test for cocaine and marijuana in a person's saliva. A positive test would warrant a blood sample also to confirm the results.

Each machine is worth $6000 and six of the devices will be distributed to local police agencies. That includes Moose Jaw, Regina, Saskatoon, Weyburn, Prince Albert, and Estevan. The nine other devices would be given to RCMP detachments to be used across the province.
