Job loss continues to plague Saskatchewan. There are 12,300 fewer jobs in the province than there were in July, 7000 of which were full time, according to a July Labour Report from Statistics Canada.

This puts us at an unemployment rate of 7.1 percent, well above the 5.8 percent national average. That means approximately 43,000 Saskatchewanians are unemployed.

Compared to last year, the agriculture sector is down 2,100 jobs, manufacturing is down 700 jobs, and the trade sector is down 1,400, with another combined 900 jobs being lost in the forestry, fishing, mining and the oil and gas sectors.
