The rain that is falling in and around Moose Jaw today is good news not only for lawns and gardens but also for the farming community.

John Strem farms just south of Moose Jaw in the Briercrest area and he told DiscoverMooseJaw that even at this late stage of the year the rain brings benefits.

"It's great to have it.  It's too late to do any good for anything that we did this year, but it's great to have the moisture back in the ground.  It knocks the dust down a bit and it softens the ground so we can get into it to do some field work.

And for farmers looking to seed fall crops, the rain will be a big help.

"Oh it's gonna be huge.  I know a lot of guys have talked about not doing it because it was going to be too dry.  So now if they are going to do it things will take off.  It'll be good for it".

We may not be finished with the rain yet.  If the forecast holds true more moisture is expected by the end of the week.
