Three Brampton, Ont. residents are facing charges after Saskatchewan Highway Patrol (SHP) officers unearthed nearly 4,000 pounds of illegal cannabis near Caronport on April 7.

(Photo courtesy: Saskatchewan RCMP) The SHP was conducting a commercial vehicle safety inspection on a transport truck on Highway 1 when the SHP officer found the driver was in possession of illegal cannabis and was arrested. 

The second vehicle was stopped by RCMP and it was found that the driver and passenger were in possession of a “significant amount” of cash. Both occupants of the vehicle were arrested. 

The RCMP says the occupants of the second vehicle and the driver of the transport truck are known to each other. 

Harpreet Malhi (40), Ramandeep Singh (21) and Mehakdeep Maan (23) are facing several charges including the following: 

  • Unlawful possession of more than 30 grams of dried Cannabis 
  • Unlawful possession of Cannabis in a public place 
  • Unlawful possession of Cannabis for the purpose of distribution 
  • Unlawful possession of Cannabis for the purpose to sell 

Maan also faces a charge of Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000. 

All three accused appeared in Moose Jaw Provincial Court on April 9 and their next court date is set for Wednesday.
