The Government of Saskatchewan has announced strict public health orders for the city of Regina, as well as surrounding areas, which will remain in effect until April 5. 

This new public health order amendment and recommendation apply to the city of Regina, as well as Belle Plaine, Pense, Grand Coulee, Lumsden Beach, Regina Beach, Craven, Lumsden, Edenwold, Pilot Butte, White City, Balgonie, Kronau, Davin, Gray, Riceton, RM of Lajord, RM of Edenwold, RM of Sherwood, RM of Pense and the RM of Lumsden. 

The '7-day daily average' of cases for the Regina area is currently 82. The second closest to that is Saskatoon sitting at 19.9, while the South-Central region has a 7-day average of 5.9.

Moose Jaw is not included in the affected area. 

GATHERINGS

Effective immediately, indoor public gatherings are prohibited. 

  • All private indoor gatherings in the Regina area are prohibited. Regina and area residents may not expand their household bubble, and gatherings are restricted to immediate household members only. 
  • Anyone who lives alone or is a single parent of a minor is permitted to meet with one consistent household of fewer than five individuals. Co-parenting arrangements are permitted to continue.  
  • Caregivers, support personnel and tradespersons who are not a member of the household are not included in the maximum number of people allowed in that household. 

TRAVEL ADVISORY

There is also a Regina and area travel advisory now in effect. 

  • A travel advisory has been issued for Regina and area communities, and travel is not recommended in or out of Regina unless absolutely necessary. 
  • Regina and area are now under a work from home recommendation as well. 

RESTAURANTS AND EVENT VENUES

Also, effective Sunday, March 28, all restaurants and licensed establishments must close for in-person dining. Take-out and delivery are still permitted. 

Event venues including banquet and community halls, conference facilities, art venues, museums, libraries, live theatres, cinemas, arcades, bowling and science centres, or any non-essential indoor locations that had limits of 30 individuals are no longer permitted to operate at this time. 

Places of worship in the Regina area will remain at the current capacity level, which is a maximum of 30 individuals. 

SMALL BUSINESS EMERGENCY PAYMENT

The Saskatchewan government also announced that its Small Business Emergency Payment will be extended to those businesses impacted by today's announcement.  Application details will be announced in the coming days. 

Existing public health orders continue to be in effect for all areas of Saskatchewan outside of the Regina area.
