While it may be a bit too early to tell how what the temperature will be; the Coldest Night of the Year (CNOY) is booked and set.

The CNOY is a yearly fundraiser that raises money and awareness for homelessness. This year, the date is set for February 24th, 2018.

This is the third year the fundraiser Canada-wide will be held in Moose Jaw, with Riverside Mission hosting the event again.

"[The events for people] To just get a little taste of what its to wander around on the streets when it's bitterly cold and to come to somewhere where you get a bowl of chili and a bun and a little sustenance and then you're off again, right," said Riverside Mission's Rachel Mullens. "That's kind of what Riverside Mission is that's what the 'Coldest Night of the Year' is, to give people a taste of that to people to come and help us out."

With the date set, you can now sign yourself up to fundraise for the event. You can sign up as an individual or as a team captain to have people walk under your team for the cause.

People can choose to walk either a 2 km, 5 km or 10 km route through downtown Moose Jaw, and all routes include a "warm up" stop at Riverside Mission. All funds from the event will go towards Riverside, and they've set the bar pretty high this year.

"The past two years we've raised 40,000 [dollars] between the two years combined," Dan Mullens, Operations Manager at Riverside Mission. "This year we're trusting Moose Javians to raise the bar to the 40,000 in this third year."

You can head over to the CNOY website to either learn more about the event, register, donate, or find your local CNOY location, or in our case, Riverside Mission.
