Starting Thursday evening residents will be able to see a live rendition of 'Billy Bishop Goes To War' presented by Moose Jaw's RuBarb Productions.

Not only is this performance in conjunction with Canada's 150th birthday, but the professional theatre company will also be switching venues.

"This one is actually going to be in the theatre in the library and it's a beautiful space, it's really small, it's really intimate (and) the sound is great in there," explained Lead Actor Daniel Falk. "It's the kind of show that plays best when it feels like it's a more intimate conversation between you and the audience."

Artistic Director, Evie Koop-Sawatzky noted that exploring other venues was an idea they've had since the performing arts company came to fruition.

"It's something we've been wanting to do for several years and with this being our 5th season, we're excited to explore more venues in the city. Ever since the beginning back in 2006, we wanted to connect the talent and the facilities of Moose Jaw, so this is a great opportunity to do our first show at the library."

She added that not only is it about remembering history, they will also have a guest of honour in attendance.

"Her honour the Lieutenant Governor of Saskatchewan is coming for opening night, so if you want to shake hands with her you could come and say hi."

On Tuesday, there will be a school matinee performance, where teachers are invited to contact RuBarb Productions and bring their classes to see the show.

There is limited seating, with only 130 tickets available for each performance, so those wanting to attend are encouraged to get their tickets early.
