Ryan Meili is throwing his hat in the ring for the provincial NDP leadership race.

The Saskatoon-Meewasin MLA announced his decision to run in a Facebook post Thursday morning, which read:

"Today, I am announcing my intention to enter the race for the leadership of the Saskatchewan NDP. This leadership contest is our chance to develop the kind of healthy politics that works for Saskatchewan people. I am excited to be a part of that process. I look forward to speaking with and working alongside longtime party members, recently mobilized voters, and community builders across the province to build the inspiring and effective movement we need."

This will be the third time Meili runs for the NDP leadership. The Saskatoon doctor lost leadership races to Dwain Lingenfelter in 2009 and Cam Broten in the 2013.
