Just over two months of closed doors ended Wednesday as Saskatchewan Polytechnic Campuses, including Moose Jaw's, reopened their gyms and fitness centers for the first time since the closures.

The new Wellness Strategy plan that was announced back in May looked for a new direction in approaching wellness in their campuses, which resulted in the closures and terminations of recreational services and staff.

Sask Polytech has reopened all facilities, but with no staff the gyms and fitness centers will be unsupervised, meaning students, faculty, and staff will use these facilities at their own risk.

A press release from Sask Polytech says "This is a temporary, short-term option as the Wellness Steering Committee is working on a long-term option to best meet faculty, staff and students’ needs. The Wellness Steering Committee will continue to explore a broad spectrum of wellness dimensions, including life, mind, body, and community."
