Scott Evans, the owner of Moose Jaw Ford Sales, took home the Business Leadership Award Wednesday night at the Heritage Inn at the 16th annual MJBEX Awards.

Each year a panel of judges pick a business owner who has worked hard and persevered in their respective industry.

Evans said he's been in the vehicle industry for a number of years and has seen quite a bit of success.

Scott Evans was presented the award by Moose Jaw Wakamow MLA Greg Lawrence.

"Selling cars and working with the different people of Moose Jaw and the different employees I've worked with over the years it's opened a lot of doors for me. Not only has there been a lot of opportunities in the car business there's been opportunities elsewhere that has worked out for me."

He's proud of his accomplishments, but said it's about continuously growing.

"If you not only constantly looking at ways to improve, you're going backwards. We've got to constantly be looking at ways to innovate ourselves and make ourselves better...the competition out there is fierce and if you turn your eye away from them for a minute, the next thing you know they're eating your lunch."

Evans noted he recently read a book called The Go Getter and detailed what that meant to him as a business owner.

"The person whose receiving a paycheck, if you do more than enough or go above and beyond what you're supposed to do to earn that paycheck eventually somebody will realize the value in you."

He added that normally he likes to put his head down and work, but was definitely excited to receive his award.
