Grey skies and a light drizzle greeted members and supporters of SEIU - West as they rallied over the lunch hour in downtown Moose Jaw in support of public ownership of Saskatchewan's crowns and against recent government cuts.

A variety of speakers took part in the rally including Regina Rosemont MLA Trent Wotherspoon.  He is the former interim leader of the NDP, who announced in August he will be seeking the official leadership in their upcoming vote in the spring.

The ownership of crowns has been a hot topic button in the province since the government passed bill C40, which would allow for the sale of up to 49% of crowns to private investors without a public vote.

Recently Premier Brad Wall has hinted toward reconsidering that direction.

The premier has been quoted as saying;  "MLAs were hearing since the spring sitting exactly what I was hearing, which were questions from people across the province — supporters of ours, some who are just not particularly decided voters and then some who are supporters of the other party — a concern about how we've defined privatization in Bill 40,"

"There's a considerable view out there that folks believe that any change in ownership, even if it's five per cent ownership in a Crown, constitutes a privatization."

Wall has also pointed to the possibility of a province wide referendum on the issue.
