A huge resurfacing project will be taking place on Thatcher Drive this week between Stadacona St. W. and 13th Ave. NW., which may put a long detour on peoples commutes.

The work is a part of the $3.6 million City's 2018 Road Rehabilitation Program, with milling, re-application of hot asphalt, and possibly more repairs taking place on Thatcher starting Monday.

From August 13th to the 20th, one lane traffic will be in place and controlled by a mobile traffic setup while City crews work on the road.

Closures will be a little tricky with the work, as the media release from the City says adjoining Caribou St., Rutherford St., and Grace St. will not be able to access the road.

Detours will be in place if you want to reach the Rosedale Cemetery, Moose Jaw Animal Clinic, or other businesses on that side of Caribou St. during construction.

Drivers will either have to use 32nd Ave. or 24th Ave. Northbound drivers can use the Trans-Canada highway and Southbound drivers can use Highway 363 if they want to use 32nd Ave. Coming from South Hill, residents take Coteau St. W. and turn onto 24th Ave. to reach the road. The map below gives a visual for those detours.

All businesses remain open during construction and the City will place barricades and signage to help with the closures. As always, drivers are asked to exercise caution in the area and obey all signage.
