The city of Moose Jaw's Kinsmen Sportsplex will have free skating on Family Day Monday and extended hours for swimming throughout the next week.

City of Moose Jaw Communications Manager, Craig Hemingway, said the city recognizes that with the school break, families will be needing options to keep kids busy.

“Certainly we realize that with the school break, with kids being off they’re looking for things to do recreation-wise and this is certainly one way we can help accommodate that and give families some options in terms of keeping the kids busy,” Hemingway said.

There's extended public swimming from 1:15 to 5 p.m. all week, including Family Day.

Monday, there is a free family skate at the Sportsplex from 2 to 3 p.m., with all kids needing to be accompanied by an adult, and a free public skate from 3:15 to 4:15 p.m.

Extended public swimming will be happening from 1:15 to 5 p.m. throughout the week.

There is also a school break activity club in the afternoons from Feb. 19 for kids from 7-14. All kids must be able to swim a front crawl for a couple of laps. There is a fee for the club of $10 per day or $35 for all five days.
