You may remember the grade 4/5 class at St. Mary School that wrote letters to soldiers who are currently on tour away from home.

Jillian Lawson and her class sent those letters for the past two years, and after Lawson had moved on from St. Mary's, they decided to keep the tradition going.

This year, Madame Lisa Ethier and her Grade 2 class decided to take on the task and give soldiers who were on tour a little holiday spirit.

"[The students] were a little worried that [the soldiers] would be over there without family, and so if we sent a little bit of Christmas cheer to them," Ethier said, "Than maybe it would be a little easier on them. We need to thank them, that's basically what we're doing. "

The letters were sent out on Wednesday, and they were filled with tons of items from the kids.

"We have postcards from our Remembrance Day activity and then we had an activity with what would I do if I were an elf," Ethier added. "So we're going to send that and than we have a Christmas letter for them and some baking."

The kids were super excited to have their letter sent, and to learn more about the soldiers. Like what they do, how old they are and what their family is like.

Not many of them may know where Moose Jaw Saskatchewan is, but Madame Ethier doesn't care. She just want the soldiers to know that they're being thought of from a "small town, with a big heart."
