Many southern Saskatchewan residents are preparing for the next few days for what are expected to be intense winds.

An advisory was put into effect Monday evening and is predicted to continue through to Thursday morning or afternoon.

"There will be a potential for some 100 kilometre per hour gusts. In a few locations the winds will be excessive, especially in western and central portions of the province," explained Drew Learner with World Weather Inc.

"This would be a good time today to tie down equipment and property that could easily be blown away by excessive wind. [Tuesday] night the winds will be excessive across the region, varying anywhere from 35-55 kilometres per hour and some gusts getting upwards [of] between 80 and 90 kilometres per hour."

Officials are saying that there could be some damage to buildings and trees as a result of these nasty winds.
