A popular attraction in southwest Saskatchewan is gearing up for the 2022 summer season. The T. rex Discovery Centre in Eastend will be opening on May 21st.

The centre, which is home to the largest T. rex in the world, Scotty, saw 12,250 visitors in 2021, a new record. The previous mark was set back in 2018 when 10,440 people visited.

In addition to being able to see the fossil of Scotty, the centre also includes the Paleo Lab, an interactive area where the visitors to the centre can learn about the research happening at the centre. There is also a new Tylorsaur display being added to the lab this year.

"After an amazing season last year, I am thrilled to announce that the T.rex Discovery Centre in the Eastend is ready to re-open for 2022," Parks, Culture and Sport Minister Laura Ross said. "The T.rex Discovery Centre offers fantastic palaeontological exhibits, programs and events and I encourage Saskatchewan residents to take the opportunity to check out Scotty and the rest of the Discovery Centre's amazing offerings."

The centre is located at #1 T-rex Drive in Eastend and will be open from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. every day until Labour Day.
